Christmas Away form the City

Looking to get away from the city lights and see a spectacular display of Christmas lights?

Chad’s Winter Wonderland is a great escape from busy Nashville. Just outside of Nashville on highway 109 in Lebanon, see one of the nations largest displays of lights. With over 2 million lights, 90 acres to drive thru, and even a drive-thru Santa house!

There are live animals for the kids to pet and feed, and they can even bring their letters to Santa with Chad’s having a mailbox to Santa. They are opened for the 28th year on Thanksgiving and will stay open until December 30th.

This amazing display of lights is only $10 a car load, and a nice escape from the city.

New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway

It is amazing how fast a year goes by, and before we know it we will be ringing in 2012!

Who needs Time Square and a ball drop? Especially when right here in Nashville New Year’s Eve is done differently with a block party and a guitar drop!

This is a FREE event and will start at 7:00 PM New Year’s Eve. Part of Broadway will be shut down so traffic will be a mess, and you may want to arrive early to avoid any hassle. There will be live music from 7 PM to 12:30 AM, the artist lineup has not yet been released, but it is Music City so I am sure some big names will be out to celebrate. Come the stroke of midnight a 80 foot guitar will drop and fireworks as well to ring in the year to come.

Jack Daniels is bringing their mobile museum to showcase the history of their famous whiskey.  Opening at 4 PM for those downtown early, whiskey fans age 21 and up can take a look into the history of Jack Daniels and what has made it the whiskey it is today. Along with a history lesson you can purchase merchandise and drinks to get you in the celebration mood.

This is a great way to close out another year and begin a new one! With over 25,000 people expected plan ahead if your going to stay at a local hotel, and always remember, NEVER DRINK AND  DRIVE!!!

Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland

Christmas lights are a great way to get into the holiday season, and the lights are even better when they are set to music!!!

At Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland you can experience the worlds largest drive-thru, fully synchronized, LED Christmas light and music show. From the comfort of your own vehicle tune in the radio and enjoy a spectacular display of colors and holiday cheer. Winter Opryland!!!

It is finally getting cold here in Nashville which makes it feel more like the holiday season! Many people took the Thanksgiving warm weather as a opportunity to hang up those colorful holiday lights. Gaylord’s Opryland has there holiday festivities in full swing and you don’t want to miss the more than 2 million spectacular lights glowing from around the grounds. Along with these beautiful lights there is much more for the family to enjoy at historic Opryland. A great show for the whole family is DreamWorks  ICE! Merry Madagascar, which features ice sculptures and ice slides for the kids. DreamWorks also brings to Opryland Holidday Shrektacular, Shrek and many other favorite DreamWorks characters are featured in the music and dance filled show. These two shows will be at Opryland through January 3rd, 2012 for the whole family to enjoy.

Opryland is also featuring The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, which stars The Rockettes. This 10th anniversary special will be on showcase until Christmas Eve.

Nashville Christmas Parade

Trying to get into the holiday spirit? The 59th Annual Nashville Christmas Parade could be just the trick to do so!

The parade will be on Friday December 2nd, at 7:00 p.m.  The parade will begin at LP Field and make it’s way across the Woodland Street Bridge, then head west down 2nd Avenue, and finally reach Broadway.

If you make it out, you’ll get the chance to see legendary country star Vince Gill who is this years Grand Marshall. He will be joining Mayor Dean at Public Square Plaza to light the Christmas tree downtown, kicking off Christmas in Nashville

This is a great opportunity to get downtown with the family and enjoy the holiday festivities. It’s a free event and will highlight many of Nashville’s local businesses.
